Nottingham Post Sports Awards
On Thursday 27 October, Nottingham’s East Midlands Conference Centre opened its doors to hundreds of guests who attended one of the most hotly anticipated events on the sporting calendar, the Nottingham Sports Awards. The awards place the spotlight on individuals, teams and clubs from around the region who have made huge strides in their chosen sport, from grassroots to elite level.
Champions (UK) plc have been honoured to organise the annual event for many years and this year the event was better than ever! The team carefully selected the perfect venue, secured high profile sponsors and designed a ceremony which celebrated a variety of sporting achievements.
The glittering event was hosted by renowned sports writer and radio broadcaster Pat Murphy and 2004 Olympic badminton silver medallist Gail Emms MBE. The pair regularly work at various regional award ceremonies so they were the perfect choice to lead the Nottingham Sports Awards to success.
The guests in attendance were not only the category finalists but also included local businesses and organisations who got on board as category sponsors including headline sponsors of the event, NET, Nottingham’s tram network.
It was these guests who throughout the night helped raise valuable funds for the chosen charity of the evening, Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People, through a game of stand-up bingo and a silent auction.
