OAKS restaurant and bar located on Bromley Place in central Nottingham brings a unique and innovative form of cooking to the city. Focusing on locally sourced, hand-made sausages and meats, these are cooked slowly over burning wood embers on a custom-built iron grill, bringing out an intense, smoky and tantalising flavour.

The OAKS menu showcases a signature range of flavoursome handmade sausages created to the chef’s own recipes. Taste sensations range from chicken, asparagus, ricotta, sage and lemon zest to wild boar, purple broccoli and smoked mozzarella served with mashed potato. A stand out feature of the menu is the Freedom & Respect Chicken, which has been marinated for 48 hours to bring out the essence of flavours of honeydew beer and black pepper.

Speciality burgers range from beef and bone marrow to soft-shell crab with wasabi. Prices range from £6.50 for a foot-long sausage, to £14 for king prawns on the skewer. Sharing platters are also available for groups of two people or more, including sausages, steaks and sides. Side dishes include truffle mash, hand-cut chips and corn on the cob followed by Bluebell Farm ice cream and sweet doughnuts.

OAKS proudly showcases local suppliers with a diverse range of craft ales delivered by nearby Castle Rock brewery and 12 local beers by the bottle. Wine is served by the carafe and the range of cocktails, including the Midlands Spritz, an infusion of Noilly Prat, elderflower, mint and Harvest Pale ale, have been created to reflect modern classics using the best ingredients.

All of the logs used for cooking on the custom-built cast iron grill are supplied by the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, which produces the wood as a natural by-product of sustainable coppicing.
